Shooting at NFL Office Exposes Neptune Vulnerability

The shooting that targeting the NFL office on July 28, 2025 occurred under a strong Mars aspect to the birthchart of the National Football League. The transits to the event also expose Neptune issues within the chart of the NFL.

The shooting occurred at 6:29 pm EDT as the Moon and Mars were conjunct in the sign of Virgo. Both planets were in close conjunction to the Sun of the NFL, which is positioned at 24 degrees of Virgo. Mars aspects are often present in violent incidents. On the day of the shooting, Mars aggressiveness was not only amplified by the lunar conjunction but was further agitated by a square from Venus in Gemini.

The NFL birthchart experienced another major transit to their natal Neptune during the shooting.  Mercury retrograde at 11 degrees Leo was conjunct the NFL’s Neptune near 13 degrees of Leo. Expect to see Neptune aspects when someone is experiencing a mental health episode. The gunman Shane Devon Tamura suffered from mental illness and reportedly blamed the NFL for causing him CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a brain disease common in football players caused by head trauma. Among the symptoms of CTE are explosive behavior and paranoia. Tamura had not played organized football since high school, but he reportedly suffered repeated blows to his head while playing running back.

Interestingly, in the birthchart of the NFL, Neptune is square to the Lunar Nodes. According to Evolutionary Astrology, square aspects to the Nodes indicate “skipped steps” in one’s evolution. These squares indicate one has overdue issues to address with the planet in square. Mercury retrograde brings awareness and reflection. The shooting, under a such an aspect, has the capacity to bring awareness to the NFL of its Neptune issues. The NFL is an organization reliant upon Neptune energy. Children growing up are fed Neptune fantasies of playing professional football. Those who reach their dreams are placed on heroic pedestals by an adoring public. Alongside such permittable expressions of Neptune, a loss of contact with Saturnian reality often emerges. Neptune brings a loss of reality as one indulges in dreams, flights or fantasy and drugs. Mental illness is not far away.

In earlier decades, aspects to the NFL’s Neptune probably brought awareness to drug abuse by its players. Now the emerging Neptune concern is CTE. In a suicide note, the gunman asked to have his brain examined for trauma.  

The birthchart of the gunman, Shane Devon Tamura, mirrors an individual with Neptune concerns. His Sun and Neptune are conjunct in late Capricorn. His Mars and Jupiter are conjunct in the sign of Aquarius, suggesting an individual with inflated Mars energy or identity. Also interesting, Tamura’s Pluto of 7 degrees Sagittarius is exactly conjunct to the NFL Mars of 8 Sagittarius. Pluto and Mars are often a violent combination. Here, their close conjunction also indicate Tamura personal karma with the NFL. If they did not have karma before, they have it now.
