Posey Named Giants President on a Saturn Moon Sandwich

The hiring of Buster Posey as the Giants’ President of Baseball Operations and the firing of Farhan Zaidi both occurred on the morning of September 30, 2024 with the Moon in Virgo in opposition to Saturn in Pisces. Both Saturn and the Moon were square to the Giants Sun of 15 degrees Sagittarius. The transit of Saturn in Pisces had been a weight on the Giants 2024 season, in which they did not play .500 even with an increased payroll. Throughout the 2024 season, Saturn in Pisces made square aspects to the Giants stellium in Sagittarius.

Giants fans and the press are cheering the hiring of Buster Posey, a popular former Giants catcher, but the chart for the change of leadership does not appear auspicious. Giants ownership made the decision while theri Sun was squared by Saturn in Pisces on one side and the Moon in Virgo on the other. It is as if they were squeezed into making a decision by the pressure of a Saturnian yet dreamy father and a Perfectionist Virgo mother.  The Giants’ Sun, which received the square, is in the mutable sign of Sagittarius. Important decisions with long lasting implications are best made under transits involving fixed signs.

The aspects to Buster Posey’s birthchart also look dubious. To be named President of Baseball Operations is a very high accomplishment, which would reflect transits to his MC or to planets in his Tenth House. It is not possible to discern these without a time of birth, and I only have his date of birth. Among the striking transits to Posey’s birthchart, Saturn is his Moon in Pisces, and Jupiter is opposite his Saturn in Sagittarius.)

Most interesting, Posey is having a return of his Lunar Node axes, as his North Node is Aries is conjunct his natal North Node and his Sun. The South Node in Libra is also conjunct his natal South Node, and along with it are the Sun and Mercury conjunct to his South Node. Such aspects to the South Node are considered malefics as the South Node represents the past, rather the auspicious North Node that represents the future.

Since Posey was hired under an abundance of Libra aspects, he may prove to be weak and indecisive. Farhan Zaidi was criticized for a lack of bold decisions at the trading deadline. Posey’s Sun is in Aries shows he has the astrological DNA for boldness. But the transits for his hiring show a wishy- washy indecisiveness with the Sun and Mercury conjunct his South Node. Posey may overthink his decisions and fear not being perceived as a team player.

Posey’s processor, Farhan Zaidi has a chart of decisive leader with four planets in Scorpio. His chart also shows great resonance with the Giants front office, as his Sun, Mars and Mercury are conjunct to the Giants North Node and MC in Scorpio. But Zaidi became criticized for his over-reliance on analytics, a lack of decisiveness and an inability to make the big move. The Giants were considered a disappointment under his leadership.

The chart of the signing of Zaidi as President of Baseball Operations reflects afflictions of his reign. When he was signed on Nov 6, 2018, Mars in Aquarius was in an inharmonious square to the Giants MC. Aquarius represents the analytics element of baseball, and Mars in Aquarius brought an aggressive use of this tool. Also, Neptune was positioned at 14 degrees Neptune in Pisces and square to the Giants stellium in Sagittarius. Neptune brought dreams and expectations but it came at an angle which blurred the focus.
