Astrology of MLB’s First Woman Umpire

Posted on August 10, 2025August 15, 2025 By cesarlove

Jen Pawol became MLB’s first woman umpire under Uranus and lunar aspects to the birthchart of the National League.

Jen Pawol Umpire Debut Aug. 9, 2025 1:16 pm EDT Atlanta, Ga.

Pawol made history in Atlanta on Aug. 9, 2025 in the first game of a double header, as the Sun in transit at 17 Leo was conjunct the National League Uranus of 18 degrees Leo. The planet Uranus, forever a champion for Civil Rights, is regularly present when history is made for causes of equality. Full Moon energy from the previous night was also present and powerful with the Moon at 22 Aquarius opposite the NL Uranus and loosely conjunct the NL Sun of 13 Aquarius. The Moon is an advocate for women.

National League Feb. 2, 1876 1:15 pm CST Chicago, Ill

The birthchart of the National League is the active chart for Major League Baseball. Transits to this chart can be observed in rule changes, strikes, and historic moments. Two other strong aspects were made to the birthchart of the National League:

Venus and Jupiter conjunct at 11 and 13 Cancer were square to the National League Mars of 12 Aries. Together these two planets leveraged very strong feminine energy. Venus, already a feminine planet, became even more so by its placement in the feminine sign of Cancer. Jupiter is traditionally considered a masculine planet.  But here it is placed in Cancer and conjunct to Venus, transforming it into a powerful ally for the day’s historic moment.

Interestingly, both Venus and Jupiter were in tight square aspect to the National League’s Mars of 12 degrees Aries. This square aspect reflects how Jen Pawol directly confronted the masculine culture of Major League Baseball. Squares do not function in harmony but in tense relationship. So far, there are no news reports of pushback against Jen Powol’s debut, but surely there are grumblings. Perhaps the dissenters are voicing their views on Internet chat boards or late night radio talk shows. Mars in Aries is not wired to simply accept such a challenge.

Meanwhile, the major aspect of 2025, Saturn conjunct Neptune, was also present this historic day. The conjunction was especially active on Aug 9 as Mars in Libra was directly opposite to Saturn and Neptune. Both ends of the opposition were conjunct to the lunar nodes within the National League birthchart. Mars was conjunct to the South Node in Libra, and the Saturn and Neptune were conjunct to the North Node in Aries.  Fittingly, the planet Saturn rules umpires. The conjunction of Neptune and Saturn in Aries is dissolving rigid cultural patterns and allowing the emergence of fresh structures and norms which will bring renewal. It appears auspicious that Saturn and Neptune were conjunct the NL’s North Node, an indicator of the future. This suggests Jen Pavel is not a mere flash in the pan, but she has opened the future for many women umpires.

All three planets were also part of a rare Kite Aspect involving Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.

Jen Pawol Dec. 29, 1976 Noon Chart Long Island City, New York

Jen Pawol’s own birthchart is certainly worth examining. Her noon birthchart has one major feature of a groundbreaker. Her Venus is in Aquarius, the sign of radicals and changemakers. Indeed, her feminine Venus is taking a stand for change. Furthermore, this Venus of 23 degrees Aquarius is conjunct to the National League’s Saturn of 26 degrees Aquarius. As we know, Saturn is the planet of umpires. This conjunction tells us Jen Pawol is certainly a woman to call balls and strikes for Major League Baseball.

Pawol also has her Sun and Mercury in Capricorn, the sign of umpires.
